We wanted to give you an update after what has been a very unexpected 5 months for us all.
For us at The Stocks Vets it started with the fairly major water leak at our Lower Wick surgery in early February and just as we started to get things organised for some temporary consulting rooms and the repair works were to begin, coronavirus presented an even bigger and more unexpected challenge.
We want to take this opportunity to thank our fantastic, hard-working team of receptionists, nurses, nursing assistants and vets for their continued dedication to our patients and their owners, and for their ability to adapt to the ever changing situation that we found ourselves in. They have coped with the increased pressure in their day to day work, reduced numbers in our working team and weeks on furlough; for that we are very grateful.
We also want to thank our valued clients for their continued support and for being patient with us as our ability to deliver our usual services in our usual way dramatically changed overnight.
We’re so very pleased to finally be able to re-open our Lower Wick surgery from Monday 6th July. Initially there will be some minor changes in our previous opening hours, but we hope to get back to normal with your continued support in the near future. For the initial weeks of the phased re opening of Lower Wick we will continue to perform surgical procedures and care for sick pets at our Upton surgery, whilst being able to see routine appointments and facilitate medication and food collections as required at Lower Wick which will be open between 8am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday.
At both surgeries we have fitted Perspex reception screens to enable our clients to safely return into our waiting areas. As you all know, our consultation rooms are more confined spaces, so in order to thoroughly and safely examine our patients we will continue to work in vet/nurse pairs to perform these examinations. We will ask you to wait in our waiting area, or your car if you would prefer, the vet can then discuss their findings, diagnostic and treatment plans with you.
We have increased the time allotted to each patient we see in order to allow consultations to take place safely and maintain reduced numbers of clients within the building. Our team will be wearing additional PPE and carrying out additional cleaning between patients. We kindly request that you wear a face covering if you are entering one of our surgeries, that you use the hand sanitiser provided on entry and exit to the building and that you maintain 2m distance from other clients and staff members. In addition, we request that you telephone us on arrival at the surgery and for only 1 person to accompany pets to their appointment.
We are currently able to perform routine booster vaccines, neutering, dental work and other surgeries as required. We ask you to bear with us as there are many patients who are overdue some of these procedures and therefore the wait for a suitable slot may be longer than you were previously used to. Vets will assess the needs of your pet on an individual basis so please respect their decision with regards to the scheduling of your appointment.
We thank you for your understanding of the protocols which we have implemented not only for our protection but yours too. Please be assured that we all continue to work incredibly hard to bring you the level of care that you and your pets expect and deserve during these challenging times.
